Poultry Gender Technician - Cloacal Chick Sexer

We are currently seeking a Poultry Gender Technician - Cloacal Chick Sexer for our GP and Parent stock Hatchery in New Plymouth, which is in the North Island of New Zealand. The successful applicant will be one of a team of highly competent Sexers who sex day old Ross breeder chicks.
Each day the incumbent will assess product quality against required standards and determine through the Cloacal method the gender of one day old chickens. Maintained animal welfare, biosecurity and strain security standards by the incumbent are imperative. The Cloacal method must be adhered to as it results in a far greater accuracy, much lower mortality and less stress for the sexed product.
Relevant qualification in Poultry Cloacal Chick Sexing, with proven experience in a high volume hatchery sexing Parent stock and Grandparent Stock is essential.
A demonstrated current cloacal sexing skill level providing 98% accuracy, 48.5% sexing split and a minimum sexing rate of 700 chicks per hour is imperative; with maintained sexing competence; experience of at least 12 months at these high levels. This position requires good eyesight, a high degree of manual dexterity, a natural ability to pay attention to detail and quality and maintain high levels of concentration of up to 8 hours.
What's on offer
Remuneration for this full-time position ranges from NZ$75,000 - NZ$95,000 as a minimum guaranteed salary, with very competitive piece rates available.
Working days are Monday to Friday with 40 hour minimum guaranteed hours of work per week, the specific times per day are dependent on the hatch schedule and this changes on a week to week basis, which is advised in advance on a roster.
