The Opportunity
We are seeking a full-time Poultry Farm Manager to oversee operations at our Breeder Farm in Waiiti, Taranaki. This key leadership role reports directly to the Production Manager and is responsible for managing daily operations while driving production performance through technical expertise, providing leadership, direction and skill development and through practical application of skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership and ensure staff development within a competent team, in line with company compliance standards, fostering a positive culture and promoting technical growth within the team.
- Plan and coordinate livestock operations to achieve best practice and meet objectives.
- Maintain high bird welfare and biosecurity standards in compliance with company policies.
- Implement and adhere to animal husbandry, rearing, and production practices.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager on bodyweight profiles and feed rate adjustments.
- Ensure strain security and biosecurity compliance to all internal and external audits.
- Build a strong sense of ownership and trust within the team.
- Optimise flock performance and take corrective actions, in conjunction with Production Manager, as needed.
- Promote Health & Safety through training, regular discussions, and compliance monitoring.
- Apply a hands-on approach, combining mechanical aptitude with daily farm operations to achieve performance standards.
- Work with all support functions to achieve good business partnering and adherence to policy and procedures.
What We Need From You
To succeed in this role, you will need a high level of poultry knowledge and a proven track record in leadership and management. A minimum of five years of experience in poultry production operations is essential. We also highly value the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of Animal Welfare codes and standards.
- Strong understanding of husbandry practices, animal health issues and biosecurity.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication and reporting abilities.
- Proven leadership, staff development, and management capabilities.
